To My Fellow Bloggers, I Salute You
September 23, 2011
One of my favorite bloggers who writes Lorna’s Voice nominated my blog for the Versatile Blogger Award. I have a high degree of respect for Lorna because she’s a great writer, hysterically funny, and she can hem trouser legs.
As my acceptance of the award, I was asked to copy the badge for it. Since I couldn’t figure out how to do that, I decided to make my own badge (see above badge image). I then thought I’d make my own award, the Giddyup Bloggers Award, pass it on, and award it to Lorna as well.
I was asked to name some of my favorite bloggers. Although I can’t figure out how to add multiple links in a post, many of my favorite bloggers’ names are on my blogroll. (If I leave someone out, please forgive me and know I didn’t mean to.) Briefly, these are why the bloggers are my favorite and I nominate them for every possible award, including this one:
1. Notes from an Alien. This blog is run by a recently published author who has an amazing amount of information for writers. I also enjoy the goofy banter this serious writer and I engage in at times.
2. Freedom, by the way. Although I’d sworn off blogs with a political theme, I love this one. She is eclectic and full of spunk with a great sense of humor.
3. Run4joy59. This blogger is a busy person who also blogs. Her posts are chock full of activity and she writes from her heart.
4. Eternalsolitude. He is a film maker in Brazil who posts amazing photography. The posts he writes are thoughtful and inspirational.
5. Drinkswellwithothers. This blogger has obvious skill and talent as a writer. If you haven’t visited his blog, check it out for some great reading.
Finally, as acceptance of the award I have to fess up to a few things about myself. Here are those:
1. I still have all my wisdom teeth which is why I always win arguments. But, I didn’t start teething my wisdoms until my mid-30s so that’s telling a lot.
2. One of my first crushes was Leif Garrett. We had one thing in common during my middle school years. We were both made for dancing.
3. People always tell me they can’t tell when I’m joking which is why I decided to be joking all the time to make it easy on everyone. For the exceptional times when I am serious, I try to remember to state that.
4. Not only can I break goats to race barrels, I can also team train them to pull wagons.
I think I’ve said enough. There’s no reason to over share.

Thank you for your kind words & award, Simone.
I can’t figure out how to “grab” those image awards either.
I can tell you how to do links. When writing a post, just select the word or phrase you want to link,( you know, highlight) then in the toolbar, click on the chain symbol (chain-link–get it?). A window will pop open where you can type the URL (or paste if you’ve copied). Make sure you click the box that says open link in a new window (that way if a reader clicks on a link in your post, they won’t lose your post).
Maybe someone knows how to tell us to get those images in our sidebar.

You’re welcome. Thank you for the tutorial on links. I see what I’ve been doing wrong so maybe now I can do it. Once I get it…watch out.

I’m installing my award
First download the image to your desktop, then upload it to your blog’s media area, then find the address of this image (usually, the blog address with image name added to it, then go to this page http://www.quackit.com/html/codes/html_image_link_code.cfm
and insert the appropriate stuff into the code example….

Thanks for the help Alexander! If that badge doesn’t draw you a large tribe, I don’t know what will.

Just reading this, I’m already lost at step two. But you have given a well-laid out explanantion so I will give it a try. Thanks!

Beautifully done, Simone! I accept the Giddyup Bloggers Award, a most prestigious award, indeed. I will check out the other Giddyuppers and I am THRILLED that the sharing stopped here.
Although passing on the award is a way to increase traffic and readership, I’m realizing that these awards can be somewhat incestuous–something I find hard to believe given that there are nearly 400,000 bloggers on this platform alone.
Anyhoo, atta girl!

I’m so happy to hear you’ve accepted. Thank you.
The best part of the awards to me is sharing why I like my favorite bloggers. They put a lot of work into their blogs and they deserve the recognition. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write this post and do that!

Thank you so much for the Giddyup Bloggers Award and the very kind words…and one of these days I’ll get me one of those blogrolls on my blog and you can bet you’ll be on it…you always make me smile, chuckle and often laugh out loud!! Which tends to get me funny looks if I’m reading your blog on my phone in a public place…

You’re welcome, Patti.
It fascinates me that people can read blogs on their phones. Maybe if they build some more towers out where I live, I’ll be able to do that one day. Civilization, how I miss it!

This has to be the coolest name for an award since Lou Gramm subletted his nickname for the Grammy. I think that’s how the story goes . . .
Simone, your blog is a breath of fresh air and a very cool thing to lean into with my morning java. Thank you for the kind words, the Giddyup Award and especially for the blog you keep.

I’m glad you like the award name, Cayman. Thank you for accepting the award.
